Brandon Brown
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Brandon’s deep love for music was instilled from a young age, surrounded by a spiritually rich and musically inclined family. Captivated by the vibrant sounds of his hometown, he picked up the bass at the age of 15, inspired by Victor Wooten’s cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed.” From that moment, there was no looking back.
By the age of 19, Brandon had already made his mark, playing bass on the Academy Award-winning song It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp from the film Hustle and Flow. His talent and versatility have led him to work with an array of renowned artists, including Stevie Wonder, The Jacksons, Smokey Robinson, Isaac Hayes, The Black Eyed Peas, Boyz II Men, Fergie, Three 6 Mafia, PJ Morton, Chrisette Michele, Jessica Simpson, Leona Lewis, and many more. His performances have graced stages on popular TV shows like The View, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, and festivals such as Rock in Rio.
As his musical career flourished, so did his calling into ministry. Known as “Pastor Funk,” Brandon seamlessly blends his love for spirituality with his passion for music, aiming to inspire and uplift others through his unique sound. His belief in the power of collaboration gave birth to The Brandon Brown Collective (The BBC), members of the group have since performed with artists like Anderson Paak, Kanye West’s Sunday Services, NPG, and Childish Gambino.
